He joined Telefónica as General Manager of Finance for TEF Int. and later became CFO of TEF SA (1999). He was appointed CEO of TEF Int. (2002). He was Managing Director of TEF Latin America (2006-2011). He was appointed CEO of TEF Europe (2011) and COO of TEF SA (2012). He is Chairman&CEO of TEF SA (April 2016) and joined the board of directors (July 2006). He has a degree in Economics (Complutense University Madrid and Free University Brussels) and an International Management Programme (IPADE).
